Kennedy's First Report Card

Kennedy finished her first year of preschool on Friday and was sad to say goodbye to her friends and teachers. She's already talking about when her class will start again in the fall! At the end of the class, her teachers gave us a book full of photos they took of Kennedy and the other kids all year long, a book of all Kennedy's art projects from the year, and a "report card" with their observations about Kennedy in several different areas. Nate and I were both surprised by the overwhelming sense of pride we felt reading through Kennedy's report card and realizing how well she did in her class and how fast she's growing up. We are so proud of Kennedy and love her very much.

Here are a few of our favorite observations from the teachers:

  • "Kennedy handles herself well in any situation and only asks for help when she needs it."

  • "Kennedy is curious. She is willing to experience new things and asks questions."

  • "Kennedy is very verbal and can easily express herself but is a little shy in front of the class."

  • "She has an excellent concept of numbers and was always the first to say how many we were talking about in any of our stories or finger plays."

Then summing it up, they wrote: "Kennedy is a very bright, kind, and generous person. She enjoyed all areas of the room and played with all the children in the room. She loved to dress up. She enjoyed the dolls and preparing food. She also liked playing doctor with our doctor kit. She enjoyed all of the art activities and worked until she was happy and proud of her outcome. Outside, she could do all the activities: she climbed, rode bikes, and enjoyed the sandbox. Her favorite activity was riding one of the small red bikes. She also enjoyed discovering in the meadow and trying to catch fish or tadpoles. She is just a good-natured, well-rounded girl. She has been a joy to have at school. We will miss her."

Wow...that is a very detailed report card. I wish the elementary teachers would elaborate so nicely.

I think that must be the next best thing to being a fly on the wall in the classroom. I think that is so great that the teachers took the time to do one of those for all the kids. And the pictures are so cute.

Why wouldn't you be anything but proud of such great skills and things that they had to say about her.

It is hard for me to think of my kids in school, but I hope that they do as well as Kennedy does.

I can't get over how stinkin' cute your kids are! I'm pretty excited to see what kinds of things teachers will be saying about Leah- that's got to be so fun!
